Get comfortable typing in Hindi.

Practise Hindi input order with कि, की, and क्र, distinguish InScript from phonetic input, and type a short Devanagari sentence.

Decide between InScript and phonetic input

InScript assigns characters to fixed positions. A phonetic IME instead interprets Roman spellings and may offer word candidates. These are different skills: learning where क sits on InScript does not tell you which suggestion a phonetic IME will choose.

Use the Hindi input method already enabled on your device for these exercises. For the main test's built-in Devanagari - INSCRIPT reference, physical K produces क and D produces the virama ्. Leave Built-in practice unchecked when your system already produces Hindi.

Enter the consonant before the vowel sign

Practise क → का → कि → की as separate forms. For कि, enter क and then ि, even though the vowel sign appears to the left. Do not add a space to force its position. For की, choose ी; the two signs are not interchangeable.

The first drill separates each form with a space so you can inspect it. If a sign seems detached, check for an accidental space between the consonant and sign. If the base letter is wrong, verify the input method before repeating the drill.

Speed measures correct text output. Accuracy includes incorrect attempts even after correction; compare tests using the same language and input method.
