Set up a Japanese IME, practise hiragana and small っ, and learn when to commit kana versus select a conversion candidate.
A Japanese IME can accept Roman-letter key sequences while producing hiragana. That is Romaji input, not a request to submit Latin text. Activate Japanese input and its hiragana mode before using these fields. Kana input is another method with its own key positions.
Keep Built-in practice unchecked in the main test. The website lets the IME handle candidate navigation and commitment. It does not choose Japanese words from the answer on your behalf.
The first drill contains hiragana vowel characters. In Romaji input, a i u e o can produce あ い う え お when entered as separate items. For the second drill, neko produces ねこ and ame produces あめ under common Romaji rules.
がっこう contains small っ. A common Romaji sequence is gakkou: the doubled k produces the small consonant marker. Read the target carefully; replacing っ with full-size つ changes the text.
Speed measures correct text output. Accuracy includes incorrect attempts even after correction; compare tests using the same language and input method.
