Check Spain versus Latin American layout

Both layouts can type Spanish, but punctuation and some symbols occupy different positions. Select the reference that matches your keyboard. Choosing Spanish text on the website does not switch the operating system's input language.

Use a system Spanish layout, US International, or another method that can enter the exact characters. If your layout uses a dead acute key, press it first and then the vowel. The first press may show no text because the accent is waiting for a letter.

Keep accents in the word you are learning

The pairs si / sí and tu / tú are deliberately different in the first exercise. Do not strip accents to make the line easier: they are part of the spelling you need to reproduce. Likewise, año contains ñ, not n followed by an extra symbol.

Practise one difficult pair three times before repeating the line. For pingüino, inspect the two dots above ü; an acute accent would give a different letter. If accents appear as separate marks, check that you used your layout's composition sequence.

Include both ends of a question

The final drill starts with ¿ and ends with ?. Prepare both before attempting a speed test. English keyboard habits often lead learners to skip the opening mark or replace it with the closing mark.

Once the sentence is exact, use Spanish words and quotes in the main test. Keep the same regional layout across sessions so a change in punctuation positions does not look like a loss of typing ability.
