Set up your keyboard

Match the guide to your device keyboard. Leave simulation unchecked when your system already types this language; enable it to practise these positions using English input.

Find your index fingers

Find the bumps at the F and J positions. Alternate your index fingers; use either thumb for Space.

These are key-position drills, not words. The large key label shows the output; the small label names its US keyboard position. Follow the highlighted finger. Slow down until each movement feels comfortable; speed comes with accurate repetition.

Add your middle fingers

Place your middle fingers beside your index fingers. Tap lightly and keep the other fingers resting on the home row.

Add your ring fingers

Use your ring fingers for these home-row positions. Keep your wrists relaxed.

Add your little fingers

Use your little fingers at the outer home-row positions. Avoid moving the whole hand.

Join the home row

Combine the home-row movements. Your index fingers reach inward for the G and H positions, then return home.

Reach the upper row

Reach up with the highlighted finger. Return it to the home row after each press.

Reach the lower row

Reach down with the highlighted finger. Keep your eyes on the next key and maintain a steady rhythm.

Practise the number row

Reach to the number row, then return home. Key outputs depend on your layout; follow the character shown.

Use the opposite Shift

Hold Shift with the opposite hand while pressing the highlighted key. Release Shift before each space.

Match the Marathi input method

Choose your system Marathi layout or phonetic IME before beginning. Marathi and Hindi share Devanagari, but that does not make their vocabulary or every keyboard option identical. In TypeScore Lab, the named Marathi and Devanagari - INSCRIPT references are selectable separately.

For the built-in reference, keep the device on an English layout and enable Built-in practice in the main test. For your installed Marathi keyboard, keep that box unchecked. The lesson fields below always accept system input.

Give ळ its own practice

ल and ळ are different letters. The words बाळ, शाळा, and सकाळ give you three useful places to practise ळ without a long passage. In the built-in Devanagari InScript reference, Shift + N produces ळ; a phonetic IME may require a different spelling or candidate choice.

If a word looks nearly right, inspect the letter itself rather than accepting the similarity. The drill should end with the exact target text. Never replace ळ with ल just because it is easier to find.

Join letters while preserving vowel length

In कि and की, the dependent vowel follows क in input order. In मित्र, the final त्र combines त, virama, and र. The drills deliberately place vowel work before a whole sentence so you can identify which operation causes hesitation.

The final sentence says that we practise Marathi every day. Check आम्ही and मराठी slowly on your first pass. Then try a Marathi word test with the same input method. Compare your Marathi sessions to each other, rather than comparing their speed with an English score.
